Sanpower Group CEO Yang Huaizhen Interview With Jiangsu News Watch

A few days ago, Ms. Yang Huaizhen, CEO  of the Sanpower Group, had an interview with Jiangsu News Watch, the flagship news program of Jiangsu Satellite TV. While answering reporter’s questions, Ms. Yang expounded upon the Sanpower Group’s achievements from recent years and its long-term planning for the future based upon core competitiveness, industrial layout and future vision, comprehensively showcasing the Sanpower Group’s overall objective of and irrepressible confidence in “becoming a world-class company retaining its Chinese characteristics and capable of continuous future development.”

Jiangsu News Watch: The Sanpower Group has ranked among the top five enterprises in the Service Industry of Jiangsu Province successively for several years. Please tell us about the enterprise's core competitiveness edge and its strongest points  .

Yang Huaizhen: The Sanpower Group, as an enterprise ranked among Jiangsu province's top five enterprises in the Service Industry, has maintained a leading position in this industry thanks to its two greatest core strengths. The first is the constant evolution of the external business ecosystem and therefore the  commercial opportunities continuously arising from it, a strength sourced in its especial historical status twenty to thirty years before the development of China’s economy; and the second is the enterprise’s own endogenous strength, stemming from its sense of mission, objective, and strategy. “To become a world-class company retaining Chinese characteristics and capable of continuous development” is the Sanpower Group’s overall vision. To support this, we have laid out the enterprise’s development objectives, and broken down  the strategy into separate development stages to meet the overall objective. It is not exaggerated to say that we laid down today’s objectives a decade ago, and that our present size and quality, speaking generally, are thanks to the enterprise’s  committed development objectives, sustained effort, and right direction; and speaking more specifically, are an inevitable result of the enterprise’s thorough, down-to-earth and detailed work at each stage of its development.

Jiangsu News Watch: The Sanpower Group, originally a conventional commerce and trade enterprise, has advanced into the stage of accelerated transformation and upgrade. What most embodies its direction of transformation and innovation? What key innovation projects have been launched? As a representative project in the enterprise’s transformation and development,  has aroused much attention at all points in society. Would you please tell us about its present development and future development plans?

Yang Huaizhen: An important stage in the present achievements of the Sanpower Group is simply in its compliancewith national policies, in keeping up with the pace of the times, and in reforming its corporate branding, large-scale operations, and standardized responses  to the the times. China's 12th Five-Year Plan points out that , new industrialization, new urbanization and agricultural modernization are key stages in the two tasks of accelerating the actualization of transformation and upgrade, and of keeping pace with the most advanced enterprises. In the coming decade, first-tier cities will become saturated in development, while small- and medium-sized cities, towns and rural markets will have increasing development opportunities and broader development prospects. The stimulation of consumption and the momentum of domestic demand will depend more on the consumption of small- and medium-sized cities, towns and rural areas. With this in mind, and guided by the national development objective of comprehensively constructing an affluent society, the Sanpower Group has seized the main thrust - in response to new urbanization, it has launched the “100 cities and 1,000 counties” program, utilizing its strengths in terms of the modern service industry, establishing and operating one-stop comprehensive consumer complexes - Sanpower Plaza. Sanpower Plazas will be opened in 100 first-, second- and third-tier cities and 1,000 county centers, in order to provide comprehensive life services including shopping, catering and culture and entertainment, made available to hundreds of millions of  urban and rural residents. The project will directly create 500,000 jobs, create 5 million indirect job opportunities, cover 500 million customers, realize annual total sales of 500 billion renminbi, and drive the growth of output value by 5 trillion renminbi to related industries.

At the core of the implementation of this program is the development strategy of “diversified investment and professional operation,” which the Sanpower Group has been executing since its beginnings. After many years in the industry, the Sanpower Group has now become a large enterprise group, noted for its information technology that puts the modern service industry at the core, bringing together commercial chain businesses, e-commerce and logistics, information services operations, and investment and financial services. Based on such a multi-industry model, the  project“100 cities and 1,000 counties” may be sourced by industries under the Group's banner: Hirealty could provide strong support for commercial real estate development in the “100 cities and 1,000 counties” project; Hisap and Nanjing Xinbai could provide IT information port and retail services such as department stores and supermarkets; Guangzhou Jinpeng could provide security operations and health services for the aged;  could provide an integrated on-line and off-line consumer experience; and Wanshide could provide logistics distribution and supply chain management services.

In addition,  is another project under . In September 2012, the Sanpower Group, together with the Baixia District Government, Yunrun Group (Central Emporium), Golden Eagle International, and Deji Group (Deji Plaza), established Business Circle Network E-commerce Co Ltd. The website aims to become a “leading provider of e-commerce technology and services in China’s business circles”. Adopting the combined business models of SoLoMo+O2O+BBC,  provides high-quality and low-cost e-commerce services and transaction platforms for traders, providing a consumer experience together with the organic integration of online shopping and in-store experience to consumers, stimulating momentum for the sustained development of the conventional retail industry, and promoting the consumption growth of all society. In the coming five years, will set up a new site,, with a trading volume of 100 billion renminbi.

As a part of the Group's “100 Cities and 1000 Counties” strategy,  will be established at “Sanpower Plaza” in each urban business center, in order to serve more established retailers and consumers.

Jiangsu News Watch: In the new year, what aspects of the Group will be especially expanded? What are the Group’s development vision and targets?

Yang Huaizhen: “The Sanpower Group will launch its “Sanpower Plaza in 100 cities and 1,000 counties” model this year, array the establishment of Sanpower Plaza throughout  Jiangsu and Anhui in thecoming two to three years, and then extend the project to all over China. Each small- and medium-sized city has its commercial center with several decades or even a century of history, and the Sanpower Group will upgrade these commercial centers by integrating with local elements, in order to meet the demands of local consumers.”
