The fifth congress and first meeting of the fifth council of the China Society for the Promotion of the Guangcai Program (CSPGP) was held in Beijing from October 19 to 20. Yu Zhengsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, met with representatives and gave a speech. Ma Kai, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese vice Premier, Sun Chunlan, Head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee and Chairman of the China National Democratic Construction Association, and Wang Qinmin attended the meeting. In the course of the meeting, a leading organ of the fifth congress was elected, with Quan Zhezhu, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee as the Chairman, 24 comrades including Yuan Yafei, Chairman of Sanpower Group as Vice Chairman and 114 comrades as executive directors.

Yu stressed that the Guangcai Program is a new initiative in which the united front leads those from the non-public sector to take part in poverty relief and development and to promote common wealth. Those from the non-public sector shared the burden of the Party and government, benefited poor areas and the impoverished masses and made contributions to the establishment of a comprehensive well-off society by virtue of the Guangcai Program.

Since Yuan Yafei, Chairman of Sanpower Group, started in business in 1993, he has been devoted to consistent innovation and change. Under his leadership, Sanpower Group has grown into a large-scale modern enterprise and ranked 21st in the 2015 Top 500 Chinese Private Companies. As Sanpower Group develops, Yuan Yafei has always upheld the ethos that, “The fruit of development shall benefit society first”. He involves himself enthusiastically in philanthropy, actively leads the company to make large contributions to society, and has donated more than 300 million RMB in funds so far. Over the years, he has been successively awarded many honorary titles, such as the Jiangsu Socialist Construction Contribution Award, Jiangsu’s Most Respected Entrepreneur, Jiangsu’s First Altruist, Jiangsu’s Excellent Entrepreneur, Fourth “National Outstanding Builder of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics from Non-Public Sector”.

Yuan Yafei is also an active entrepreneur within the Guangcai Program.  In 2013, he was elected as Vice Chairman of CSPGP Jiangsu; at the same time, he also served as Vice Chairman of CSPGP Nanjing. Under his leadership, Sanpower Group has participated in a series of public welfare programs out of the Jiangsu and Nanjing branches, such as “Millions of Private Enterprises Help Millions of Households”, “Guangcai Bursary and Teaching Program” and “Guangcai Benefits People”, and made contributions in funding poor students to finish their studies, aided poor families in improving their lives, and helping poor areas to develop education, and so on. In December 2013, the Sanpower Volunteers Society was established. Through it, Yuan Yafei and his employees have made public-spirited activities into a long-term project and formed a system to support them.

Sanpower Group’s public-spirited activities are not limited to China. On the morning of October 21 London time, Yuan Yafei signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a wildlife conservation fund program together with Prince William at Kensington Palace, the official residence of William, Duke of Cambridge. A global wildlife conservation career backed by Sanpower Group had officially started.

Yuan Yafei feels that it’s an extraordinary honour for him to be elected as Vice Chairman of the fifth council of CSPGP. He said it is an honor and further encouragement. Sanpower Group will accelerate its development, combine China’s dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with the “Sanpower Dream”, increasing investment in public welfare undertakings, and showing the Guangcai spirit through positive actions.
