On 1 April 2016, Shang Yuan Lu, Director of Shanghai Overseas Centre at International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore) led a team to visit Sanpower Group. Yue Lei, Senior Vice President of Sanpower received the guests. The two parties exchanged their opinions about facilitating the cooperation between Sanpower Group and Singaporean companies and the fields they could cooperate on. Christine Wong, Senior Director of the Group's International Affairs Management Centre also joined the reception.
Shang Yuan Lu and his team visited the Showroom of Sanpower Home, the Brookstone concept store and Senior Care Centre, getting a better understanding of Sanpower Group's business lines as well as the progress and achievement of its internalised development.
At the symposium joined by the two parties, Shang Yuan Lu first introduced IE Singapore and their purpose for this visit. He said that IE Singapore is under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore. Originated from the Singapore Trade Development Board, IE Singapore's main purpose is to facilitate Singaporean enterprises' international trade. Their visit this time aims to have a better understanding of Sanpower's business lines and future plans and look for cooperation opportunities for Singapore enterprises.
Sanpower Group has always been friendly with Singapore. On 31 March 2015, Teo Ser Luck, former Minister of State at Ministry of Trade & Industry of Singapore (having now taken the post of Minister of State at Ministry of Manpower) led an economic and trade mission consisting of young Singaporean entrepreneurs to Sanpower Group for visit and exchanging ideas. Over the last year, Yuan Yafei, Sanpower Group's Chairman and the executives went to Singapore six times for investigation and research, while the Singapore Economic Development Board paid two visits to Sanpower seeking investment cooperation.
Yue Lei said in the long run, international development will be one of Sanpower's core strategies. We will see Singapore as an important market in Asia-Pacific. For a period of time to come, Sanpower will pay close attention to the investment opportunities in Singapore's retail, healthcare, creative industries and other sectors, looking for opportunities for cooperation. We hope to establish routine liaison with IE Singapore so as to exchange information.
Shang Yuan Lu expressed his admiration for Sanpower Group's international strategies and planning. He said IE Singapore will facilitate the close contact between Sanpower and relevant government departments of Singapore as much as possible and will like to share preferential policies about investment in Singapore, hoping to keep contact with Sanpower and build a bridge and platform for cooperation between Sanpower and Singaporean enterprises.
