On 23 May, the 2015 Touching China: Top Ten People Who Touched Jiangsu award ceremony was held in Nanjing. The ceremony was attended by Yang Zhichun, the Vice Minister of the Publicity Department and Director of the provincial Cultural Office, Wang Yixuan, Party Secretary of Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing & Media Inc., and heads of departments from various municipal publicity departments and cultural offices. Yang Huaizhen, President of Sanpower Group, was invited to the ceremony to award the “Top Ten People Who Touched Jiangsu”.

The selection started on 11 November of last year, and 30 candidates were singled out by the expert jury to be voted on. The 2015 Touching China: Top Ten People Who Touched Jiangsu were then selected, including Dai Hua, a police officer from Yangzhou who showed great dedication in searching missing people, Zhang Yaoxiao, a girl from Zhenjiang who kept her faith despite her illness, Zhang Xiangxiang, an old lady from Changzhou who sold sleeve covers (to protect winter coat sleeves) to raise her daughter who has a learning disability, and Ji Feng, a philanthropist from Wuxi who donated five million yuan to build public libraries. Meanwhile, Wu Jinquan, an 88-year-old man from Nantong who sharpened knives for a living, was awarded the special prize for the 2015 Touching China: Top Ten People Who Touched Jiangsu while the Jiangsu public security group was elected the group award for 2015 Touching China: Top Ten People Who Touched Jiangsu.

Zhao Lei, the chief editor of Modern Express, said in his speech, “The award ceremony today is a spiritual baptism for us all. We are all touched, and from their actions we are filled with positive energy.” As the president of a private company worth 100 billion yuan, Yang Huaizhen is also full of positive energy. In just a few years, she has helped Hiteker and Nanjing Cenbest (both part of Sanpower Group) to transform their business prospects and gain new momentum with her extraordinary courage, forward thinking and perseverance. She has been selected as the Chinese Retail Industry Person of the Year on several occasions. Focussing on the female perspective, Yang Huaizhen actively shares her experience in work and management. She hopes to help women play an active role in the workplace.

 

 

Yang Huaizhen said that she was very moved and honoured to be invited to present awards at this ceremony. She added that as a supporter of 2015 Touching China: Top Ten People Who Touched Jiangsu, Sanpower Group had continuously developed a positive corporate culture, practiced corporate social responsibility, and insisted on contributing to society with practical actions. The Group and its companies had invested more than 300 million yuan in supporting education, helping vulnerable groups, fighting natural disasters and promoting social harmony. Sanpower Group had received the appreciation of government and the outside world due to its devotion to charity. Chairman Yuan Yafei was elected Vice Chairperson of the China Society for the Promotion of the Guangcai Programme in 2015.

“There are so many heart-warming stories from so many ordinary people. These everyday heroes all around us are the ones that touch us the most.” Yang Huaizhen noted that Sanpower Group was enthusiastic about public welfare and insisted on contributing to society, which was very much in line with the spirit of the Touching China initiative. “Sanpower Group will bring positive energy to society together with the laureates of Touching China and become a civilian force that touches China,” she said.
