On February 16th, Sanpower Group announced it will take a controlling stake in Yi Le Ju, a comprehensive senior care service company based in China. Bu Jiangyong, Senior Vice President of Sanpower Group, signed the agreement with Yu Juehui, the founder of Yi Le Ju. Upon the completion of the deal, Yi Le Ju’s mature Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) model will be integrated into Sanpower’s set of senior care businesses.

According to Ken Teegardin, Chief Editor of SeniorLiving.Org, the CCRC model is a combination of independent living, assisted living, and nursing home models. CCRCs offer medical treatment, meals, personal care, housekeeping, transportation, emergency assistance and other services. In addition, the communities provide residents a diverse range of social and educational activities. Because CCRCs are designed as an “all-in-one” model, residents can enjoy a greater level of comfort while the resident’s children gain a greater sense of security that their all their parents’ needs are being properly met.
Yi Le Ju is the first in the industry to have introduced the mature CCRC model from the United States into China, and the company is specialized in the investment and operations of comprehensive senior care services. The company’s first CCRC was launched in 2007 in Jiangyin City of Jiangsu Province and features apartments, nursing homes, an activity centre, university, restaurant and more, all specially designed for the elderly. The success of this venture established the “Yi Le Ju model” as properly matching the conditions of China. Subsequently, Yi Le Ju has gone on to build larger-scaled CCRCs that include improved services in Ningbo (Zhejiang Province), Taizhou (Jiangsu Province) and Jinhu (Jiangsu Province). These communities have not only generated social and economic benefits, but have also won the positive recognition of central and local governments.
The Yi Le Ju provides its “all-in-one” service model by integrating the various phases of senior care. After being incorporated into Sanpower, its asset-heavy service model will be used to unlock business synergies in combination with the asset-light service models of Sanpower’s other senior care subsidiaries. These include An Kang Tong’s online/offline home-based care model, Natali’s telemedicine model, and A.S. Nursing’s professional nursing care model. With their complementary advantages, this group of business will collectively cover home-based care, community-based care, and institutional care, three major subsectors of the senior care industry.
