April is the most beautiful month of the year with spring flowers in full bloom. April the 22^nd was the 48^th Earth Day. Mother Nature bestows her gifts generously and we should love and act responsibly towards her. The April Edition of Sanpower Public Welfare Monthly has three themes: advocating for a green lifestyle, providing aids to the needed and caring about employees. The following is an account of what Sanpower has done in public welfare in the idyllic springtime of April.

Protect the Earth by Adopting a Green Lifestyle

In April, the Cenbest outlets in downtown Nanjing, Wuhu and Huainan jointly held a hiking event themed “Live a Green Life through Low Carbon Travel”. Cenbesters hiked to the ancient city walls next to Xuanwu Lake, Jiuci Square beside the Mirror Lake and the high street in Huainan, chanting slogans of a green lifestyle. This event not only raised public awareness on environment protection but also called on citizens to participate in public welfare activities.

 

From April the 17^th to the 22^nd, Hongtu Property held a week-long public welfare cultural event themed “Spread Love and Embrace a Low-carbon Lifestyle” to celebrate Earth Day.Its employees donated over 200 autumn and winter clothing items, which were practically new, to Nanjing Red Cross Clothes Donation Center. The event encouraged employees to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle and protect the environment, showed   Hongtu employees’loving care to the disadvantaged and promoted the positive energy of Hongtu Property.

April the 22^nd is Earth Day. To honor this day House of Fraser promoted light meal in partnership with Kopimellow Coffee & More and Lutte Cafe, calling on the public to show gratitude to the gifts of nature while savoring delicacies. Kopimellow Coffee & More introduced 3 Earth Day Combos featuring green ingredients and green cooking to preserve resources. Lutte Café did its part to protect the Earth by sourcing UTZ-warranted 100% organic coffee beans, minimizing the usage of artificial fertilizers, water and electricity.

 

                                              Make donations and Spread Love

On April the 15^th, a jumble sale was held inside Cenbest Building B in downtown Nanjing, where children were encouraged to sell their old books, toys and stationery. The proceeds went toward the children in the Rehabilitation Centre for Persons with Disabilities in Pukou District, Nanjing. Children from around 20 families who partook in the sale learnt the importance of waste reuse and showed their love to children with disabilities. Parents and children spoke highly of the event and looked forward to more such meaningful activities.

 

 

On April the 21^st, Hongtu Property employees visited the elderly and the orphaned in Wenchang Welfare Home of Hainan Province and gave them gifts as a token of love and care. It brought love and warmth to them, enhanced employees’ social responsibility and contributed to building a harmonious society.

 

On April the 22^nd, “Global Reading Day-Plaza Reading Activity”was held successfully at the 2^nd-phase development of Fengxiang Xincheng. It was organized by Tiexin Community, coordinated by The Light of Love and co-sponsored by the party branch of Hongtu Sanpower Headquarters in partnership with the Zhujiang Road flagship store. Novel products like the burr puzzle and Brookstone Sand and some other parent-child interactive activities were immensely popular with participants and the team “Xiuhaole” provided multiple life services to the citizens for free.

 

        On April 26^th, the Volunteer Association of Hongtu Property party members went for a spring outing in Qinglv Garden with the senior citizens from Guoyue Yuhua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which the Volunteer Association visited on a regular basis. The volunteers kept the elderly in company, enjoyed the beauty of exquisite gardens, blooming flowers and springtime with them. It brought love and care to the senior citizens and further enriched their cultural and leisure life.

On April 27^th, volunteers from the trade union of Funtalk Communications visited Chenguang Rehab Center for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Beijing in an effort to carry forward Sanpower’s fine tradition of engaging in public welfare. The trade union had made donations to the Rehab Center before. The volunteers from the trade union talked, played games with the children, fed them and played music for them, lavishing love and warmth on them.

 

Put Employees First

On April 12^th, to instill in employees the importance of health, the trade union of Funtalk invited lecturers including Duan Kun from Yunnan Safety and Health Education Center to give a second lecture on safety and health. It covered a wide range of topics, like how to rescue oneself and others in case of an emergency, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a regimen, how to prevent occupational diseases and release pressure from work etc.

 

On April 21^st, House of Fraser employees organized a team-building activity to the well-known magnificent Hui Hang Caravan Trail with a history of over 1000 years. The HoF team hiked the entire route in Anhui Province. They not only cut pollution levels by travelling green but also did some soul-searching and generated positive energy from the trip. They helped and worked closely with each other, building their stamina, making new friends and acting on the principle of green, low-carbon travel.
