From November 17 to 18, the Advanced Seminar for International Management Talents of Enterprises titled Transformational Global Leadership was held at the headquarters of the Sanpower Group and lasted for two days, which is the third visit of Thunderbird Team following the visit of schoolfellows from Thunderbird School of Global Management in 2016 and the Master Lecture.

The seminar was sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Nanjing Sub-Council and was jointly co-organizedby the Thunderbird School of Global Management and the Sanpower Group. About 50 executives from Sanpower Group, JSTI Group, Nanjing CHERVON and other enterprises attended the training. Liang Jie, President of CCPIT, and Yue Lei, Executive Vice President of Sanpower Group attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Liang Jie said: in recent years, CCPIT has made a lot of efforts in introducing excellent educational resources from abroad to help Nanjing's enterprises to speed up the cultivation of globalization leaders and quickly meet the new challenges brought by international business. The project of “transformational global leadership” conducted under the cooperation with the Thunderbird School of Global Management is one of the important educational activities aiming at training top management personnel with transnational and cross-cultural management capability for "going out" enterprises in Nanjing and promoting more foreign trade and economic cooperation.

In the future, CCPIT will continue to give full play to its advantageous connection between the government and civil society so as to actively respond to the Belt and Road Initiative, It will also take advantage of the broad foreign channels, rich service content and close relation among enterprises, and actively guide the business community in participating in the construction of "the Belt and Road", which has achieved widespread results and effectiveness. Sanpower Group has made successful achievements in "going out" and "bringing in". It is hoped that the seminar will provide new methods and ideas for enterprise personnel training and international cooperation.

In recent years, Sanpower Group has conducted a series of overseas mergers and acquisitions, including House of Fraser, the renowned department store in UK, Brookstone, an American chain brand of novel products, Natali and AS Nursing, Israel's pension service companies, etc., based on the national strategy of "the Belt and Road" and following the principle of the combination of "going out" and "bringing in". In January 2017, Sanpower Group purchased Provenge, the world's first and only FDA-approved prostate cancer cell immunotherapy, which was also a successful case of exercising "going out" and "bringing in".

Yue Lei expressed his joy to see the professors from Thunderbird School of Global Management again in Sanpower Group for their teaching and inspiration. Nowadays the world is rapidly changing and the world economy is undergoing deeper changes. As Sanpower Group steps in the fast lane of international development, Sanpower must realize, adapt to and response to the changes. Thunderbird School of Global Management is globally recognized as the most successful and experienced educational institution in developing international business leaders. It is hoped that in the future, we can have more contacts with Thunderbird School of Global Management to send professional international team of qualified personnel to Sanpower Group to enhance the international leadership and competitiveness.

The course was delivered by Dr. Mary B. Teagarden, the Global Strategy Professor from Thunderbird School of Global Management, visiting professor from Harvard University and editor in chief of Thunderbird International Business Review Magazine. During the two-day training, Professor Mary firstly inspired students to think about how to master the three core elements of transition, creativity and innovation and global thinking in the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world. Through the case study and group discussion of "Thoughtworks", "Cardinal Health" and "MI", together with the organizational change, creation and innovation of Sanpower Group's new consumption, new health and new retail business and other commercial activities, the whole seminar was very fruitful.

At the completion ceremony, Shi Changyun, Executive Vice President of Sanpower Group, concluded that: in the VUCA world, leaders shall keep keen insight and agile mobility to have a common vision through active interaction with the team and see farther through the turbulence. Finially, Shi Changyun shared three ideas and suggestions which are "keeping up with the pace of technology, embracing the democratization of knowledge, and achieving self-transformation and upgrading" with all the students.
