Recently, Yuan Yafei, Chairman of Sanpower Group met with Zhang Yaqin, President of Baidu and his delegation. The two parties reached a consensus in multiple issues regarding to the future strategic partnership. Wang Yang (Senior Vice President of Investment and M&A of Sanpower), Xu Fang (Senior Vice President of Biomedicine of Sanpower), Li Lei (Vice President of Sanpower), Shi Xin (President of Tianxia Lashou), Yin Shiming (Vice President of Baidu), and Feng Yingyue (Senior Strategic Partnership Manager of Baidu) also attended the conference.

In the conference, Yuan Yafei briefed Zhang Yaqin on the vista of Sanpower Group. He introduced that with New Health and New Consumption as main businesses, new technologies as means, and data as resources, Sanpower Group is in the vision of establishing a global modernized platform of the service industry and undertaking the mission of ensuring people’s well-being and happiness. In the field of New Health, we are setting up a health industry ecosystem in which life is hopeful for the living, medical treatment is available for the sick, and care is sufficient for the elderly through our unremitting exploration in the field of umbilical cord blood stem cells storage, genetic testing, cell immunotherapy, elderly care, and medical institution. In terms of New Consumption, taking the advantage of our strengths in the layout of Department Stores and retailing stores all over the world, Sanpower Group embraces and proactively adopts new technologies and implements innovative management and business patterns in order to initiate an international ecosystem in the theme of innovation, novelty, and fun.   

Subsequently, Zhang Yaqin unveiled the ABC strategy of Baidu for Yuan Yafei, of which A refers to artificial intelligence (AI), B refers to Big Data (search services based on big data), and C refers to cloud computing. He added that ABC will become the mainstream of the era. Different from other internet enterprises, Baidu adopts an open strategy by opening its world-leading core technologies such as voice, image, video, AR and VR, and natural language processing. Moreover, the ABC strategy will deeply integrate with and fuel traditional industries, genuinely promoting operation efficiency of each enterprise, releasing business potential, and creating new opportunities.

In the meeting, the two parties arrived at a preliminary consensus in future cooperation and agreed to focus on in-depth collaboration in establishing new scenes and business patterns. Yuan Yafei expressed that Sanpower boasts of adequate offline data resources while Baidu is in the possession of a lot of user data and data analysis technologies. Sanpower will be open-minded for the partnership with Baidu in the hope of achieving a mutual empowerment and win-win result.

 

Profile of Dr. Zhang Yaqin:

Dr. Zhang Yaqin entered School for the Gifted Young at the age of 12 and was awarded “Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Fellow” when he was 31 years’ old. In 1999, he returned to China and took up the post of the Chief Scientist in Microsoft China Research Institute. Five years later, he officially joined Baidu. Being the President of Baidu ever since, he is a world-class scientist and entrepreneur in the field of digital video and telecommunications.
