On February 10th 2015, the granting ceremony of sponsorship for the GREAT Festival of Creativity was held at the British Consulate General in Shanghai, where Sanpower Group was officially announced as the Chinese partner of the Great Festival of Creativity. Brian Davidson, British Consul-General in Shanghai, Matthew Forbes, Deputy Consul-General, Mr. Yue Lei, Senior Vice President of Sanpower Group, Tony Carr, Executive Director of House of Fraser-International Development and Logistics, and Celine Chen, Executive Director of House of Fraser-China Strategy and China Affair, attended the ceremony.
Brian Davidson, British Consul-General in Shanghai, introduced the philosophy of the Great Festival of Creativity and the specific arrangements. He said that he was delighted to partner with Sanpower at the GREAT Festival of Creativity, adding that the reasons for choosing Sanpower Group as the partner was not only because the latter is the elite in the industry, but also because it is an enterprise with innovative idea and vision, which coincides with the very philosophy of the Great Festival of Creativity.
Mr. Yue Lei, Senior Vice President of Sanpower Group, introduced that established in 1993, Sanpower Group has become an informatisation-featured conglomerate with a focus on modern service industry with a diversified business scope covering finance, trade & commerce, Internet, healthcare and real estate. In April, 2014, Nanjing Cenbest, a nationally well-known department store under Sanpower Group, completed the strategic acquisition of House of Fraser, a British department store with a time-honoured history of 165 years, thereby realising the transformation from a traditional department store to the high-end fashion store. The acquisition has reserved the long-term competitiveness for the development of Cenbest, and conforms to Sanpower's development strategy.
Commenting on partnering with the Great Festival of Creativity, Yue Lei said that 2015 was the China-Britain Culture Year, in which the Great Festival of Creativity will be the highlight among a series of events. As a Chinese private enterprise that invests and develops in the UK, Sanpower has the responsibility as well as obligation to actively participate in this event, so as to contribute strength and wisdom to the cultural and commercial exchanges between Britain and China. He also revealed that House of Fraser, the historic royal department store of the UK, will announce it is coming to China officially at the festival.
Tony Carr, Executive Director of House of Fraser-International Development and Logistics, introduced the long history of House of Fraser and many of its innovative retail models. Established in 1849, House of Fraser is one of the most prestigious brands in the UK, constantly insisting upon the unique business philosophy that is featured by creative and artistic stores, multi-channel sales model, Buy&Collect, speedy delivery for next-day arrival, rich and unique in-house brands ... These innovative ideas and practices have enabled House of Fraser to provide customers with superior shopping experience; besides, they have also enhanced House of Fraser's performance and continuously broken the record. Especially since the last year, the multi-channel sales have seen a significant rise. Tony Carr said that previously House of Fraser had traded solely in the UK and Ireland, and the merger into Nanjing Cenbest now provides the opportunity to become a truly international retailer with the prospect, at some point in the future, of bringing the heritage and brand proposition that is synonymous with our Business, to China.
It is learned that the Great Festival of Creativity will be hosted in Shanghai from March 2 to 4, 2015. The event, which is an important continuation of "The GREAT Britain" campaign, is scheduled not only to promote a vital and vibrant UK for the audience, but also provide a good opportunity for business leaders to learn more about the important role of creative industries in the UK and global business development. During the three-day event, the business elites and pioneers from all walks of life will present the guests with a feast with endless imagination through a series of unique master lectures as well as speeches full of rich examples, etc. Prince William will also attend the opening ceremony of the festival.
