On the morning of November 6th, with “11·9” National Fire Prevention Day approaching, Sanpower Group invited fire-fighters from the fire brigade in Yuhuatai District, Nanjing City to oversee an emergency evacuation drill in case of fire for all employees. Fire-fighters entered Sanpower Group and taught employees what to do in case of a fire of the Group and developed firefighting and escape drills, which heightened everyone’s fire safety awareness and emergency drill understanding. Hu Leiying, Director of the Group’s Public Relations and Administration Centre, Yang Zhiqun, Vice President of Hirealty, Bi Xiaodong, Chief of the Fire Brigade in Yuhuatai District, Nanjing City, were on site to oversee the drill. Heads of relevant departments such as the Group’s Public Relations and Administration Centre, Group Trade Union and Hirealty Property and all employees in the system such as teams working at the headquarters, Hisap, Property and Commercial Management took part in the drill together.

At half past 9 in the morning, the fire drill started. In front of the headquarters of Sanpower Group, the scenario of the fire drill was caused by a gas leak, and the fire spread to the 5th floor. The central control room, firefighting action group, evacuation guidance group promptly acted and handled it according to the fire disaster emergency plan. Under the centralised command from the central control room, the firefighting action group was organised with the power to assist in firefighting and called the fire department. The evacuation action group immediately set off the fire alarm and announced to all floors to evacuate via the intercoms. Hundreds of staff from every floor in the Group covered their noses and mouths with wet towels, lowered their heads and escaped the site of the blaze in an orderly fashion, leaning against walls under the guidance of fire-fighters. Those who succumbed to smoke inhalation and suffered burns at the scene were taken in and transferred by the medical aid group. On-site fire-fighters downstairs took up fire water branches and directed streams of water to firing positions and the fire was quickly under control. The firefighting rescue effort ended successfully.

After the evacuation drill concluded, Chief Bi Xiaodong expressed affirmation to the orderly manner of the fire drill. He noticed that stairs and passageways of Sanpower Group were free of obstructions. When a fire occurs, it is a hazard to block escape routes. The attention to the small details can actually decrease the occurrence and severity of a fire. Director General Rong Fei of the Scientific and Technical Talent Bureau of Software Valley in Yuhuatai District also affirmed the amount of effort that Sanpower Group has invested in safety construction and expected to continue maintaining a good and interactive mechanism with Sanpower in aspects such as production safety and fire safety in the future. Later, Hu Leiyong summarised the overall situation of the fire drill. He thanked all departments for the effort they had put into the drill and stressed that “nothing is trivial in fire safety” and hoped that everyone would become even more conscious and aware of their safety and become experts in fire safety knowledge.

At last, fire-fighters took part in the firefighting drill with the Group staff. Liu Xiaodan, adviser to the fire department in Yuhuatai District, demonstrated how to utilise dry powder extinguishers himself and detailed every step. Everyone had a chance to experience fire equipment for themselves, including fire extinguishers and fire water branches in batches and brought the fire drill to a successful conclusion.
