Leaders from Department of Circulation Industry Development at Ministry of Commerce pay an instructional visit to Brookstone’s flagship store in Aqua City

On the afternoon of January 21, Wang Xuanqing, Deputy Director-General of Department of Circulation Industry Development at Ministry of Commerce and his companions arrived at the flagship store of Brookstone, owned by Sanpower, in Aqua City. This is an important destination in their trip to find out how Nanjing has been doing in implementing the “comprehensive pilot program for the reform and development of the circulation system of domestic trade”. The visitors were warmly received by Shang Hongjun, Sanpower’s Assistant President and Director of External Cooperation Management Centre, accompanied by Dong Jiaxing, General Manager of Brookstone China, Ding Hong, Chief of Sanpower’s Postdoctoral Workstation, Ge Qiqi, Sales Director of External Cooperation Management Centre, and so on.

 

 

In September last year, General Office of the State Council agreed to launch a comprehensive pilot program for the reform and development of the circulation system of domestic trade in nine cities. Nanjing became one of the first cities to implement the program in acknowledgement of its position and influence in trade and circulation. As a local private enterprise in Nanjing, Sanpower Group engages in five major sectors, which include trade and circulation. Over the recent years, by virtues of overseas mergers and acquisitions, the Group has advanced its transformation and upgrade in business as well as innovation of development based on the philosophy of “going global”. On New Year’s Day this year, the first store of Brookstone in China officially opened in Aqua City in Nanjing. For Brookstone based in USA, this is its first store in China. It is also the first store belonging to one of the enterprises Sanpower has acquired overseas that officially opened in China. That is just a beginning of Sanpower Group’s strategic configuration.

 

 

During the visit, Dong Jiaxing introduced Wang Xuanqing and others to various novelty products in the store. The visitors were continuously impressed by all kinds of interactive technology displays, such as the Sand World, the Massage Experience Zone, the Home Furnishings Zone and the Robot Combat Zone. The visitors were also interested to experience the 30s Automatic Wine Aerator, Kinetic Sand, Tipsy LED Light, Cat Ear Headphones, Nap Massaging Wrap and other products. Dong Jiaxing said that Brookstone’s way of sales is much different from the retail of China’s traditional 3C products. Brookstone’s way of sales is to provide the customers with interactive shopping experience. Stores are not only sales channels but platforms providing customers with interesting interaction. The shop assistants also act as playmates to customers and experts in specific fields. Brookstone’s products and way of sales were highly praised by the honoured guests there.
