On January 27, the “Symposium on Interpretation of China-Australia Free Trade Agreement” organized by the Australian Trade Commission and the Australian Consulate General in Shanghai was held at Jinling Hotel Nanjing. Over 200 representatives of companies and organizations from China and Australia attended the symposium. Jiang Hua, Vice Director of the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province, and Graeme Meehan, Australian Consul-General to Shanghai attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Sanpower Group has been a representative of the globalized private enterprises. Yue Lei, Senior Vice President of the Group attended the symposium as being invited and talked with Graeme Meehan and Karen Surmon, Commercial Consul of the Australian Consulate General in Shanghai in private.

The China-Australia Free Trade Agreement officially took effect from 20 December 2015, bringing great opportunities to enterprises in China and Australia in terms of economy, trade and investment. At this symposium, representatives and experts from the Jiangsu government and Australian government interpreted the China-Australia Free Trade from multiple perspectives, having a discussion about the opportunities and influence the Agreement brings to the agriculture, food products, the service industry, the manufacturing industry and other industries of the two countries in terms of trade and investment. Graeme Meehan said in his speech that Australia values the investment from China very much and warmly invites the Chinese enterprises to go to Australia for trade and investment.

During the talk in private later, Yue Lei introduced Sanpower Group’s strategy of internationalisation and its achievement, as well as the route of development featuring the ideas of “giving first priority to M&A activities s and second priority to investment while integrating the main business”. Yue Lei noted that, currently Sanpower has been trying hard to build the industrial ecosystem featuring “Broad Commerce, Broad Health and Broad Finance”, carrying out overseas mergers and acquisitions in those three fields and introducing the acquired enterprises to the domestic market, integrating the goals of the entire Group. According to him, Sanpower hopes to explore the opportunities for investment via the platform built by the Australian Consulate General in Shanghai, and serve as a beneficiary, builder and contributor to the China-Australia Free Trade.

Graeme Meehan noted that Australia develops well in finance and senior care. There are many large companies in those sectors and they are interested in the Chinese market. The Commercial Office at the Australian Consul-General in Shanghai would love to provide information to Sanpower in terms of the business environment, laws and policies about investment, and welcomes Sanpower Group to go to Australia and make investments.
