Led by Chu Yonghong, Deputy Mayor of Nanjing, the Nanjing Economic and Trade Delegation held China Nanjing Service Industry Development Seminar in London on 9 March (London time). Jin Xu, Minister Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Counsellors’ Office of the Embassy of China in the UK, Bai Lisha, Executive Chairman of China-Britain Business Council, and Matthew Forbes, British Deputy Consulate-General in Shanghai, attended and addressed the seminar. As representatives of major enterprises based in Nanjing and investing in the UK, Yue Lei, Senior Vice President of Sanpower Group, and Frank Slevin, Executive Chairman of House of Fraser, were invited to the seminar and witnessed Chinese and Britain enterprises’ signing of contracts on important cooperation projects.

As 2015 is a “golden year” for the establishment of the global comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UK, Huang Lixin, Member of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, led a delegation to hold the 2015 China Nanjing Emerging Industries Development Seminar in London in November 2015. This time, the Nanjing Economic and Trade Delegation visited London again, hoping to further enhance the commercial exchanges and cooperation between Nanjing and London and establish a new benchmark for mutual benefit. At the seminar, Chu Yonghong introduced Nanjing’s investment environment and noted that the Nanjing Municipal Government would provide all investors with first-rate services and beautiful environment so as to achieve mutual benefit and development.

In recent years, after acquiring the British quintessential department store House of Fraser, Nanjing Cenbest controlled by Sanpower Group has led a lot of Britain brands to enter the Chinese market through the platform of Orient Fraser and actively promoted the economic and trade cooperation between Nanjing and the UK. At this seminar, Frank Slevin made a keynote speech on behalf of Sanpower Group. Together with Yue Lei, he witnessed the signing of contracts on multiple cooperation projects.
