On 31 May, the Sino-Dutch Sustainable Supply Chain Management Platform organised by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai officially kicked off in Nanjing. Deputy Consul-General David Naves, Vice Chairman Lu Qun of Jiangsu Federation of Industry and Commerce, and a large number of enterprise and NGO representatives from the Netherlands and Jiangsu were present at the kick-off meeting. Senior Vice President Yue Lei of Sanpower Group attended the meeting and gave a keynote speech as invited.

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai has been running a three-year project concerning corporate social responsibility since 2014. Between June and October this year, the project’s trainings on corporate social responsibility will be held in Jiangsu to promote sustainable development. David Naves said this project has also built an effective platform for communication between enterprises from China and the Netherlands, as well as between enterprises and governments, which has been getting more and more well received among Chinese suppliers. According to him, the Netherlands is one of China’s important trade and investment partners in the EU, as well as China’s second largest trade partner in the EU.

Over the recent years, Sanpower Group has been investing heavily in public interest and philanthropy. As a representative of Jiangsu enterprises, Yue Lei gave a speech titled “Sanpower Group’s Going-Global Strategy and Corporate Social Responsibility in the New Normal”, talking about Sanpower’s overseas mergers and acquisitions, philosophy of strategies and logic for M&A. While engaging in increasing international businesses, Sanpower Group also takes positive measures to do more and more work for public interest of the world by co-founding the Wildlife Protection Foundation with the British royal family for protection of African wildlife.

Yue Lei said China’s proposal to build a “community of common destiny” for all human beings is, in its nature, to build a “community of responsibility”. China has been assuming a positive posture toward global affairs, working with other countries to meet the challenge of global warming, fight terrorism, offer humanitarian aid and so on. Sanpower Group is dedicated to becoming an “outstanding international enterprise” and contributing more to the global challenge, wildlife protection, with schemes and power of China.

David Naves spoke highly of Sanpower Group’s efforts in philanthropy and said he would love to provide Sanpower with information about investment in relevant Dutch industries. The two sides will enhance communication and sharing in healthcare, creative retail and other industries, and seek opportunities for collaboration.
