14 June 2016 was the thirteenth World Blood Donor Day. Nanjing City marked the day with an awards ceremony to recognise advanced units for volunteer blood donation. Sanpower Group was awarded the 2015 Nanjing Advanced Unit for Volunteer Blood Donation.
Volunteer blood donation is a generous and life-saving practice that benefits us all. Sanpower Group made great efforts to promote and organize orderly activities for volunteer blood donation drives in 2014 and 2015. The first year saw donations from 110 people and the second year 162 people. The total donated over two years was nearly 70,000 ml. These efforts were praised by the blood donation steering group in Nanjing. Sanpower Group continues to be actively engaged in charitable activities and has established the Sanpower Volunteers Society. Inspired by the corporate social responsibility culture, more and more Sanpower people are taking part groups carrying out charitable activities, spreading positive energy and making a contribution to society.
It is said that winners of the National Blood Donation Merit Award can enjoy a “three free” policy of free bus and metro trips, free visits to parks and scenic spots and a fee-free hospital registration. These benefits are part of a new regulation on unpaid blood donation implemented in Zhejiang Province. Learning from Zhejiang’s practice, Nanjing medical practitioners will include this regulation in the draft of regulations on voluntary blood donations in Nanjing, which is expected to be included in the legislative process in 2017. The National Blood Donation Merit Award is given to those who donate blood more than 20 times. In the future, seasoned unpaid blood donation volunteers in Nanjing City are expected to enjoy this treatment.
