An interview was conducted recently in Nanjing by 9 media including People’s Daily, the Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, Economic Daily, China Daily, CCTV, Central Broadcasting Station, China Radio International and China News Service, organized by Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. On the afternoon of June 27, the central press delegation led by the concerned leaders from the propaganda departments of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, as well as the Municipal Development and Reform Commission and Economic, and Information Technology Commission came to Sanpower Group. Yang Huaizhen, President of the Group, and Vice President Zou Yan warmly received the guests and introduced the transformative experience of the enterprise.
The press delegation first visited Sanpower Home. Yang Huaizhen introduced the development history of Sanpower Group since its establishment in 1993 and briefed the three key industries of "finance, health, and consumption" and five sectors of "metal, wood, water, fire and earth” of Sanpower Group. Subsequently, the delegation visited Brookstone concept store and Senior Care Strategic Service Management Centre and intuitively experienced the transforming strategies of Sanpower Group in Broad consumption and Broad Health. Among which, the Brookstone novelty products and scene and experience-based marketing, An Kang Tong home call centre, and independent intellectual property information management system became the focus of media attention.
In the media communication, a reporter from China Daily said, the Sanpower Group we knew of before was dominated by 3C retailing. We were not aware that the company was making transformations in health and finance industries and with great results. Would you please introduce the substantive changes of the company arising from the transformation in one or two simple things?
Yang Huaizhen replied that since 2014, China’s economic development has entered a “new normal”. Sanpower Group made a careful analysis of the macro situation and industrial trends and accordingly specified the synergetic development of the three key industries of “consumption, health, finance”, and proactively sought out a way of development suitable for our transformation needs. Sanpower Group suggested that “going global”, acquiring foreign outstanding companies and introducing their advanced operation and management system is the best shortcut for domestic enterprises to achieve transformation and upgrade.
Taking the senior-care industry for example, said Yang Huaizhen, Sanpower Group formerly had the foundation for senior-care industry. An Kang Tong under the group was founded in 1998. And in a matter of more than 10 years, its users reached 100,000 by 2014. In 2014, Sanpower Group acquired Israel’s largest senior-care company Natali and applied its business model and management system into An Kang Tong. In 2015, resultantly, the users of An Kang Tong made geometric growth, amounting to 1 million. “This is the result of our transformation. We are confident that the users of An Kang Tong will reach 10 million in the coming years.”
The thinking and practice underlying Sanpower’s transformation attracted the keen interest of reporters and some of the media had already made coverage on Sanpower Group’s “transformative experience”.
