On August 19, 2017, the 4th Chinese Antiques and Artwork Auction International Forum and the awarding ceremony of the 2nd Chinese Antiques and Artwork Auction Ranking – “Qinghua Award” was held in Shanghai. The event gathered many officials, experts, scholars and industry elites from the Ministry of Culture (MOC), the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH), the Shanghai Municipal Government, and the China Association of Auctioneers (CAA), who made in-depth discussions about a broad range of topics regarding China’s artwork auction market. Board Chairman of Beijing Council International Auction Company (Council) Dong Guoqiang attended and addressed the international summit forum “Shanghai Dialogue” held at the same time. During the awarding ceremony, Council won six major prizes and was honored the “Award of Top 10 Excellences” for the second consecutive year. The six prizes are the “Award of Scale”, the “Award of Income”, the “Award of Tax”, the “Award of Industry”, the “Award of Earning Capacity”, and the “Award of Public Donation”. 

The “Qinghua Award” is the highest and the most authoritative and objective prize in China’s antiques and artwork auction industry. A day before the awarding ceremony, CAA together with the Department of Circulation Industry Development of Ministry of Commerce, the Department of Cultural Market Administration of MOC, and the Department of Museums and Socio-Cultural Heritage, released the China 2016 Antiques & Artworks Auction Market Statistical Annual Report. The report contains rich data about the auction markets of Chinese antiques and artworks in mainland China and around the world, and based on the data CAA decided the Ranking and the winners of the “Qinghua Award”.

 

In his speech, Board Chairman Dong Guoqiang firstly extended gratitude to all works of life, including Council’s customers, for their support and recognition.
