On December 7, EU Chamber of Commerce in China hosted the 4th Corporate Social Responsibility Awards in Shangri-La Hotel Nanjing. SANPOWER won the first excellent cultural exchange prize. Vice President Jing Tian was invited to the awarding ceremony and delivered a keynote speechand attended the Q&A session.
It was the first to grant the Prize of Excellent Cultural Exchange since EU Chamber of Commerce in China established the CSR Awards. The Prize is designed to encourage enterprises to focus more on cultural exchanges when making transnational development so as to disseminate awareness of CSR and help enterprises deepen understanding of CSR. The panel consisted of nine members, including Julie Broussard, China programme manager at UN Women, Clare Pearson, Chairman of CBBC China and International Development Supervisor of DLA Piper, Rolf H.Koehler, the Vice Chairman of the German Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, and other scholars and experts in the field of CSR. The case submitted by SANPOWER touched the panel members, who praised SANPOWER highly for its emphasis on cultural exchanges in its overseas development.
SANPOWER was given the award because of its extraordinary achievements in the cultural exchanges in non-governmental diplomacy. Working closely with the government and domestic and overseas charity organizations, SANPOWER, by adopting the new model of non-governmental diplomacy featuring combination of business development, cultural exchanges and charity cooperation, has created the mechanism of long-term development featured by “amity between people holds the key to sound relations between states”, thus providing a duplicable path of transnational development of companies.
At the awarding ceremony, Jing Tian made a speech in English with the theme of CSR in Traditional Culture of China. After that, Mr. Jing explained why SANPOWER makes the desicion to combine traditional Chinese culture with its business development and revealed the SANPOWER philosophy of blending its own development with social progress, thus gaining recognition and praise from the participants.
In the following Q&A session, Jing Tian had in-depth discussions with representatives of BASF-YPC Company Limited, Cooperl China, AmCham Shanghai Environment Committee and EU Chamber of Commerce in China on corporate development and CSR.
