Five years of time is both a cycle and a step. The high-profile First Meeting of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was opened on March 3 in the Great Hall of the People. With the pace of the new era, shouldering the expectation of more than 1.3 billion people, more than 2,100 members of the new CPPCC National Committee gathered in the capital to offer advice and solutions on reform and development. Xi Jinping and other party and state leaders attended the meeting.

Before the opening ceremony, Yuan Yafei, member of the CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of Sanpower Group, accepted an interview with CCTV and talked about his understanding of “the Belt and Road” initiative from the perspective of an entrepreneur, which, after the release on the news broadcast of CCTIV 1, aroused widespread concern and discussion from the society.

 

He said: “In the past five years, we have actively responded to the great initiative of the Party and State in building ‘the Belt and Road’ and vigorously implemented the ‘going global and bringing in’ strategy with gratifying results. On the one hand, we are generally welcomed by the participating countries through driving employment in the participating countries via investment and M & A therein. On the other hand, we have achieved own transformation, upgrading and overtaking through the introduction of advanced foreign technologies, brands and business models. At the same time, we have also actively participated in charity activities abroad, demonstrating the good international image of Chinese enterprises and realizing a multi-win result. I think ‘the Belt and Road’ initiative is amazing and serves as a road of cooperation for promoting common development and achieving common prosperity in the world!”

 

 

 

At the meeting, Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The report reviews the CPPCC's five-year work from eight main aspects and makes suggestions for its future work.

Remember the original goal of cooperation, and keep forging ahead. The work report of the CPPCC National Committee shows that with glorious missions and great responsibilities, the CPPCC should continue to unite around the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as the core, and do its utmost to establish a moderately well-off society in an all-round way, achieve the great victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era, and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation! As a veteran member of the CPPCC National Committee who has been reelected for two terms, Yuan Yafei was deeply impressed after hearing the report.

 

He said: “The report has carried out Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress. With its high standing, accurate positioning and effective measures, the report fully reflects the glorious practice of the CPPCC under the leadership of the Party. In the past five years, the CPPCC has handled and responded to the issues concerning many fields to which it paid attention with high efficiency, conducted in-depth consultations and made accurate suggestions in various fields such as ‘three eliminations, one reduction, one supplement’, precise poverty alleviation, medical reform and rule of law, and helped to establish the close and clear relationship between the politics and business, fully playing its roles of political consultation, democratic supervision and participation in the administration and discussion of state affairs. I personally also raised 14 proposals in the past five years and all of them had been seriously answered and handled. This fully shows that the CPPCC and CPPCC members earnestly participate in the great practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics.”

 

 

 

For the new era and new journey, Yuan Yafei said he will continue to thoroughly study Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and conscientiously fulfill his duties as a CPPCC member.
