On February 9, 2018, the shopwindow with the theme of wild animal protection was formally unveiled at Nanjing Xinjiekou House of Fraser, the first flagship store in China of House of Fraser (hereinafter referred to as “HOF”), which is a department store from the United Kingdom with hundred years of history. Kong Jun, CEO of HOF China, and Zhou Lei, general manager of HOF Nanjing, attended the launching ceremony. Representatives from Foreign Publicity Office of Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, Mobike, and related non-profit organizations witnessed the launching ceremony. The activity aims to call for universal participation in public welfare activities for the protection of wild animals and shows the determination to fight against illegal hunting, killing and capture of endangered wild animals by breaking off the shotgun together.
It is known that the wild animal protection shopwindow of HOF Nanjing is currently the first of its kind in Nanjing. At the site, reporters saw the cartoon brown bear, white-lipped deer, hippopotamus, Asian elephant, and raccoon at the 10-meter shopwindow at the north square of HOF Nanjing. With children of different skin colors in their arms, those five animals sat on the air platform for singing while overlooking the bustling city, symbolizing the harmonious development of human beings and animals. The shopwindow is cleverly designed into a pattern of interconnected stairs, with a cute penguin preparing to climb the stairs. This conceptual design shows a warm, life-like scene in which people and animals live in harmony, and highlights the theme that the protection of animals equals to protect the Earth, and is also human protection.
At the launching ceremony on that day, Kong Jun said that public welfare could not be divided by regions or races, regardless of poverty and wealth. He hoped the activity could awaken the goodness in everyone's heart and inspire people to participate in public welfare activities.
At the end of August 2017, the 62nd HOF store was opened at Lake Rushden in Northamptonshire, England. As the first green store of HOF, it not only received the BREEAM Sustainable Building Certification but also cooperated with BCN to protect the biodiversity in the natural habitat of Lake Rushden.
In the future, HOF will continue to focus on promoting its green ideas to all its stores. The wild animal protection shopwindow of HOF Nanjing is the first step in HOF's green development in China. Today, HOF Nanjing shows public-welfare linkage between China and the United Kingdom, as well as that between Nanjing and Northamptonshire through public-welfare actions, and embeds the concept of universal public welfare "One World, One Home" into everyone's heart.
