"Ten miles of Qinhuai River, a hundred years of lotus lights", resident in Nanjing must have felt the charm of peddling on the Qinhuai River described by writer Zhu Ziqing. Qinhuai Lantern decorated the night of Qinhuai River, and also decorated the vast river of Chinese traditional culture. At the closing ceremony of the 5th Cultural and Art Festival of the Cell Group, Sanpower invited traditional lantern makers to show how the exquisite lantern art is performed.

As an intangible cultural heritage, the root of Cao's Lantern goes back to the Kangxi reign in Qin dynasty. Lights and kites are important carriers of paper art. Through the story of Cao's Lanterns, we came to appreciate the craftsmanship behind the lanterns. Typically, dozens of processes are involved in the making of lotus lanterns commonly seen during Lantern Festival. Sanpower fellow colleges at the event learn to stick flower petals onto the lanterns.

The lantern making session marked an end to the 5th Sanpower Culture and Art Festival. This festival is organized around traditional Chinese culture theme, and has successively hosted  cultural lectures by Professor Miao Huaimin, paper-cutting master Zhang Lan and Qin Huai Lantern expert Jinling Cao.
