June 1, Japan - A delegation headed up by Chairman of Sanpower Group Yuan Yafei visited Japan Hitachi headquarters and held in-depth exchanges with its Vice President Koji Tanaka. The two sides reached a close consensus on the construction of particle-beam radiotherapy centres in China. Tian Youzhong, Vice President of Sanpower Group and CEO of Healthcare Department, accompanied Yuan through the talk.

Radiotherapy is recognised as one of the principal means of treating cancer in the medical profession. Compared with the drawbacks of conventional radiotherapies, the particle-beam radiotherapy technology enables the dose distribution to concentrate relatively in cancer cells when killing the solid tumours, so that the meantime it kills cancer cells, it can greatly reduce the damage to the surrounding normal tissues and the sensitive parts. Presently, this advanced cancer treatment equipment and technology is mainly applied in a limited number of countries like Japan, the United States and Europe, while in China the cancer treatment market has barely started.

In recent years, Sanpower Group has been vigorously developing the healthcare industry so as to introduce the world's advanced medical technology and resources to service Chinese patients. This is evidenced by its partnering with Hitachi, Japan Sumitomo Corporation, etc. In January 2015, Sanpower Group and Hitachi signed a letter of equipment purchase intent for the construction of particle-beam radiotherapy centres in China. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation mode, working programme, as well as the future efforts of the particle-beam radiotherapy centres. Next, Sanpower Group plans to build particle-beam radiotherapy centres in East China, North China, Northeast China, etc. with the full support from Hitachi, so that such most cutting-edge radiotherapy technology can serve the patients in China as early as possible.

Yuan Yafei and Koji Tanaka jointly proclaimed that in addition to the medical field, the two sides will also actively explore comprehensive cooperation in senior care, smart city, etc.
