On January 21, the National Health Service (NHS) Delegation headed by Brian Gallagher, Minister Counsellor of British Embassy in China, and Howard Lyons, Director General of Healthcare UK, visited Sanpower Group. Yuan Yafei, Chairman of Sanpower Group, received the visitors. Yue Lei, Senior Vice President of the Group, Wang Yang, Vice President of Business of the Group’s Investment and M&A Strategic Management Centre, Li Weiming, Senior Director of the Group’s Biotherapeutics Strategic Management Centre, and Gao Jing, Senior Director of the Group’s Ageing Service Strategic Management Centre were also present at the reception.

The National Health Service (NHS), established in 1948, provides free healthcare services for all British people under the support of the British government. The visiting NHS Delegation consists of CEOs and other executives of eight top hospitals in the UK, some of which are leading the global medical treatment and research with hundreds of years of experience in medical practice. The NHS Delegation began their survey by visiting Sanpower Home, the showroom of Sanpower corporate culture, the Brookstone concept store and the Ageing Service Commanding Centre of Sanpower Group, looking into the details of Sanpower Group’s development history, five business sectors and the model of homecare service.

Howard Lyons noted that it was a great honour for him to visit Sanpower Group, and he had heard of Sanpower Group’s investment and joint project for public benefit in the UK before. He said that NHS has made new achievements in medical technology, gene detection and other fields over the years. Even if NHS is a non-profit organisation, the British medical service enterprises are market-oriented to look for partners so as to share its advanced medical technologies and innovation achievements. Howard Lyons said that he very much hoped to cooperate with Sanpower Group, and has invited Chairman Yuan Yafei to go to the UK to make an on-site visit.

Yuan Yafei said that the medical industry in the UK has a long history, leading in technology. Therefore, if it enters the vast Chinese market, it will enormously increase its influence. The management philosophy of Sanpower Group is “future defines the future”, namely, leading the change in China’s business by introducing the world’s leading technologies and business mode. Besides, he noted that he was interested in entering into partnership with NHS in stem cell, cord blood, hospital operation, precision medicine and big data.

Finally, the two parties also discussed and shared views on a wide range of topics of mutual interest.
