On 15 July, Nanjing city held an event promoting its “10,000 Private Enterprises Helping 10,000 Families Targeted Poverty Alleviation Project” during which Sanpower Group together with 30 other privately-owned companies received a “With One Heart: 10,000 Private Enterprises Helping 10,000 Families” Outstanding Contribution Award. Meanwhile, Sanpower Group also signed a Company-Village Twinning Assistance Agreement with Xining Community, Jiangning Street, Jiangning District, Nanjing. Over the following five years, Sanpower Group will take part in initiatives to alleviate poverty and improve people’s livelihoods.

Long Xiang, Nanjing Deputy Party Secretary attended the conference and delivered a speech. The event was hosted by Xu Jinghui, Municipal Standing Committee member and Minister of United Front Work Department, while Mao Weihua, Vice Minister of Party United Front Work Department and Party Committee Secretary of Federation of Industry and Commerce gave a working summary of the “10,000 Private Enterprises Helping 10,000 Families Targeted Poverty Alleviation Project”. Hu Leiyong, Director of Sanpower Group Public Relations and Administration Centre attended this conference.

It is reported that from the starting time in 2012 to the end of last year, a total of 17,000 private enterprises participated in the “10,000 Private Enterprises Helping 10,000 Families Targeted Poverty Alleviation Project”, with donations reaching RMB 270 million and up to 68,000 families with financial difficulties receiving support. For more than ten years, Sanpower Group has continuously joined a series of charity projects organised by the Jiangsu and Nanjing Guangcai Program such as this project, the Guangcai Education Support Activity and the Guangcai Public Welfare Appreciation Initiative. In addition, Sanpower people have made outstanding contributions to supporting educational initiatives, helping disadvantaged groups, fighting natural disasters and promoting social harmony, with donations reaching over RMB 300 million. Yuan Yafei, Chairman of Sanpower Group was appointed to vice president of the China Society for the Promotion of the Guangcai Program in 2015.

By virtue of the input in public welfare and charity organizations, Sanpower Group was awarded the “With One Heart: 10,000 Private Enterprises Helping 10,000 Families” Outstanding Contribution Award by Nanjing Municipal Party Committee United Front Work Department, Nanjing Federation of Industry and Commerce and Nanjing Guangcai Program. Agreements which will see around ten privately-owned enterprises help ten deprived neighbourhoods were signed during the conference. Sanpower Group was one such enterprise, signing a Company-Village Twinning Support Agreement with Xining Community, Jiangning Street, Jiangning District.

It is understood that of the 845 households in Xining Community, there are 61 households whose income is below the poverty line and 56 needy households (families just above the poverty line). According to the agreement, over the following five years, Sanpower Group shall provide Xining Community with support and assistance in aspects such as collective economic development, infrastructure construction, social and public welfare initiatives, and increasing well-being for poor families, and make more contributions to improving quality of life, social harmony and creating a happy metropolis in Nanjing.
