Four years have passed since the “One Belt One Road”
Initiative was proposed. Over 100 countries and international organizations have
actively supported and participated in its development. “One Belt One Road” has
moved from talk to action, from vision to reality. To promote and publicize competitive
industries and outstanding private enterprises in Nanjing, the Nanjing Municipal
Government’ External Affairs Office and Nanjing Federation of Industry and
Commerce have organized “One Belt One Road” Economic and Trade Cooperation
Conference for three years consecutively, for which Sanpower have been an co-organizer,
promoter and participant for the previous two years.
On September 12, the 2017 edition of the “One Belt One Road” Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference took place in Nanjing. Local government officials from 10 foreign countries such as Laos, Greece, Indonesia, Turkey and Iran communicated with representatives from 37 Nanjing-based renowned and global-minded companies. Mr. Long Xiang, Vice Secretary Municipal Committee of the Communist Party was present to give a speech. Ms. Li Aijun , director of Nanjing Municipal Government’ External Affairs Office and Mr. Mao Weihua, Vice Director of the Municipal United Front Work Department and Secretary of Party Committee of Nanjing Federation of Industry and Commerce attended the conference, among others. Mr. Yue Lei, Global Executive Vice President of Sanpower Group was also invited to the event and gave the keynote speech.
Long Xiang was the first to speak. He pointed out that Nanjing
boasts rich history and culture and excels in science, technology and education,
known for its position as a pivot point in many sense as well as scenic and
well-preserved natural environment. During three decades or so since China initiated
its economic reform, Nanjing has made big strides in both economic and social
terms. At present, Nanjing finds itself at a stage where it can avail itself of
ample strategic opportunities to make even more significant progress. With national
key strategies such as the “One Belt One Road” Initiative, Yangtze River
Economic Zone and the regional integrated development of the Yangtze River
Delta, it is an opportune moment for Nanjing to thrive. The Nanjing Municipal
Government will serve as a facilitator to strengthen communication and exchanges
and share resources with other cities and countries, and tap into potentials of
all sectors of society.
Later Yue Lei made the keynote speech titled “Sanpower
Will Take Advantage of the ‘One Belt One Road’ Initiative to Extend Its Global
Outreach”. He noted that Sanpower Group, which have participated in all three
editions of the “One Belt One Road” Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, is
an earnest proponent of this event, whose early members, both Nanjing
enterprises and international partners, have already benefited from it. He
meandered through historical, political and economic topics to explain the
parallel between the ancient silk route and the great strategy of “One Belt One
Road”, before expounding and reflecting upon the theories and values of Sanpower’s
efforts to extend its global outreach. He stressed that enterprises that
operate in foreign countries should learn to share Chinese culture while respecting
the culture of host countries, doing business in every country with the
appreciative eye and cosmopolitan mind of an outsider. Only when a company
could succeed in localization can it better realize its vision of internationalization.
During the conference, government officials from Laos,
Iran, Greece, Indonesia, Turkey and Russia, etc., also introduced in detail their
own countries or areas, and local investment environment, policies and investment
information of specific projects. Participating representatives of companies in
Nanjing took the chance to get a deeper and more accurate understanding of policies
of these countries, which will help their companies to expand their businesses
overseas in the future.
Sanpower Group has extended communication with countries along
the “One Belt One Road” in the process of its investment overseas. So far it
has established friendly relations and exchanges with over 30 countries. Its reciprocal
partnership network continues to grow.
