On the afternoon of September 27, Weldon Epp, Canadian Consul General in Shanghai visited Sanpower Group (Sanpower) to find out its investment development in Canada. Yuan Yafei, Chairman of Sanpower received the visitors. Jing Tian, Vice President of Sanpower was present.

 

 

During the meeting, Yuan first welcomed Epp. Both China and Canada are facing the trend of population aging intensification, which shows a broad prospect for health and senior care, and biotherapeutics, said him. Canada is a major bioresearch and pharmaceutical R&D country leading in life sciences, he noted, expecting that Epp would continue to support Sanpower's cooperation with Canadian enterprises, introduce more appropriate cooperation projects and strongly support corporate staff exchanges between the two sides.

 

This year Sanpower acquired Dendreon, a U.S. biopharmaceutical company under Valeant, Canada, to take over its core product Provenge, the world's first and the only FDA-approved cellular immunotherapy against prostate cancer. Provenge has a broad prospect of application in China. Sanpower has conducted prospective operations in fields including health and senior care, biotherapeutics and hospital management, thus basically building a dependable health industry ecosystem, and making remarkable achievements in homecare and telemedicine.

 

Epp was optimistic about the market prospect of the health industry in China. Canada has accumulated rich experience in biotherapeutics, he noted, welcoming Sanpower's continuing attention to Canada's biomedical enterprises. Sanpower's transnational retail strategy has been remarkable in recent years, said him, expecting that the two sides would maintain communication and exchanges to facilitate the cooperation between Sanpower and Canadian retail enterprises, promote the mutually-beneficial cooperation between Chinese enterprises and Canadian enterprises, and facilitate more trade and investment.
